This is a weatherproof external dome camera which can be used for indoor or outdoor purposes. The camera offers a vandal resistant CCTV solution and due to its vari-focal lens it could be used in many situations it is also ideal if you are not certain on the mounting position as the vari-focal lens allows you an adjustment of viewing angle/zoom as shown in the above diagram.

A dome camera of this type would generally be used outside due to its vandal and weather resistance and can function in pitch black for up to 30m thanks to its infra-reds, the camera is 3-axis meaning it can be mounted on a wall or ceiling and can be fully adjusted and rotated.

This camera comes with a lens which gives a field of view as illustrated in the above diagram. It also comes with fixings and fittings as well as an easy DC connector which enables you to connect many different types of power supply to the camera (providing it is of the correct voltage and current).

This camera is designed to work in all lighting conditions the Sony CCD provides great daytime images while the built in 30m Infra-Reds will give a clear black and white image at night.

This camera can be connected straight into a monitor via the appropriate cable for a simple surveillance system or into any of our Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) to enable the footage to be recorded onto a hard drive and played back upon request. If you would like to view this camera from a PC, you would either need a single channel video web server which will allow you to connect the camera into a computer network and view it using software or you could connect this camera into a multi channel networkable DVR which will allow multuiple cameras to be connected into your network.

Typical system configuration:

The above diagram shows the camera connected to our PRO-View DVR which records all footage to an internal hard drive. In the diagram, only 1 camera is connected to the system but our PRO-View DVRs allow up to 4, 8 or 16 cameras to be connected and recorded depending on the model.

As the camera is powered by 12V DC, a separate power supply unit (PSU) is required, in this diagram a metal boxed power suppply unit is used but simple plug in PSUs are also available. On most installations, the PSU would be in the control room with the DVR and both would be connected to the camera using 1 length of RG59+2 'shotgun' cable which is able to transmit both power and video signal. The monitor output on the DVR is connected to a screen using a length of RG59 coaxial cable so that customers can see the images in real time or view playback.

Also in the above diagram, the DVR is connected to the broadband internet via the customers router. Once this is connected and some configuration has been performed, the customer would be able to view all cameras connected to the system using a PC, Smartphone or iPad. This process does require some knowledge of PC use but we are able to guide you through the process step by step over the phone. Please speak to our technical team for more details.
